How to Create a Cue in CuePad
Cues live directly in your script — anchored to the trigger word, color-coded by department, visible to your whole team in real time. Watch the walkthrough below, then try it yourself.

Step by step
- 01
Upload your script
Start by uploading a PDF of your script. CuePad indexes every page so you can anchor cues to the exact line or moment they fire.
- 02
Select a trigger point
Click anywhere on the script page — a word, a line, a stage direction — to set the cue anchor. The cue marker appears inline, right where it belongs.
- 03
Choose a cue type
Pick from nine built-in types: Lighting, Sound, Music, Projection, Blocking, Props, Costume, Scenic, or Director. Pro users can also create custom cue types.
- 04
Name and number the cue
Give the cue its number and a description. CuePad keeps the list sorted and lets you renumber at any time without breaking the script anchors.
- 05
Add a standby
Place a standby marker earlier in the script — CuePad links it to the go automatically so the caller always sees both halves of the cue.
- 06
Share with your team
Invite collaborators by email. They see every cue the moment you create or update it — no exports, no photocopying, no version drift.
