Shift Plot template preview

A shift plot tells every crew member exactly what they move in each scene change, where it goes and when. It is the document the deck crew lives by during tech and the run.

Shifts are grouped in sections (preset, shift 1, shift 2 and so on), with columns for crew member, line set, scenic unit, the move, the spike mark and notes. Note in each section header whether the shift happens during or after a scene, and keep one version per crew member if the show is complex.

How to use this template

  1. 1Start with the preset section: every unit's opening position.
  2. 2Add a section for each shift and note when it happens.
  3. 3List each move with who does it, the line set if flown and the spike color.
  4. 4Rehearse the shifts in tech and update the plot as timings settle.
