How you arrange each spread of the prompt book matters more than it seems. If your writing hand rests on the script while you record blocking, you cover the very text you are trying to follow.
For a right-handed stage manager, the script page goes on the left of the spread and the backing page on the right. Your hand writes on the backing page without hiding the script, and cues are drawn in the script margin closest to the backing page. This one-page guide shows the arrangement and the hole placement.
How to use this template
- 1Print the script single-sided and hole-punch it.
- 2Insert a backing sheet so it faces each script page on the right.
- 3Draw cue lines in the right-hand margin of the script page.
- 4Number blocking notes on the script and record them on the backing sheet.
Place and track cues digitally with CuePad
CuePad puts cues directly on the script and keeps the cue list in sync, so inserted cues, moved standbys and renumbering never mean rewriting the book. Export a clean PDF whenever you need paper.
