Musicals need more from a breakdown than plays do. Besides scenes and script pages you need to know which song is which, where it sits in the score and who is in each ensemble number.
This version adds rows for song number and title, score pages and script pages above the character grid. Use extra marks such as G for group numbers or V for offstage vocals so the music director, choreographer and costume team can all read the same sheet.
How to use this template
- 1Enter the cast and their characters down the left side.
- 2Fill the header rows: scene, song number and title, score pages and script pages.
- 3Mark each character's presence in each scene or number using the key at the bottom of the page.
- 4Share it with the music director and choreographer to plan who is called for vocal and dance rehearsals.
