The prop list starts as the stage manager's read-through of the script, noting every object a character uses, and becomes the props department's working list. Keeping furniture separate from hand props makes it easier to read.
Columns cover the script page, the prop, which character uses it and notes or source. Tick C for consumables that must be replenished (food, letters that get torn up), R when a rehearsal prop is in use and A when the actual show prop has arrived.
How to use this template
- 1Read the script and list every prop with the page where it first appears.
- 2Group furniture at the top and hand props by act and scene below.
- 3Add the character who uses each prop and any notes, such as practical, breakable or period.
- 4Update the R and A columns as rehearsal props are replaced by show props.
