During rehearsals of a new play, or any show with an active director, the script keeps changing. A line changes log is the master record of every cut, addition and rewrite, so the prompt book, the actors and the designers all stay on the same version.
Each row records act, scene, page, line, character, the type of change and the words as they now read, plus who the change was distributed to. Date each version of the log so you can tell which changes everyone has received.
How to use this template
- 1Write the script version and revision date at the top.
- 2Log each change the moment it is made in rehearsal.
- 3Mark whether it is a cut, an addition or a change, and write the new words in full.
- 4Note who received the change, and update the prompt script.
